Dr. Stevenson, a truly inspiring man, in his TED Talk tries to teach his first lesson in these words, “Never believe a prediction that doesn’t empower you”. Since he is physically disable and relies on wheelchair by birth, he continues by saying that all the doctors prophesied with surety that he will not survive. He says “Today, after 35 years, all those doctors have gone and I am the only doctor who remains”.
Predictions are possibilities but possibility is never certainty. We human beings are way too conscious about what is there in the store for us. Prediction can be a prejudgment especially when some of the aspects are overlooked. Disbelief in predictions is another thing and being prepared for such possibilities is another cup of tea.
What simply can be done is not to wait for others’ weakening prophecies but to predict strength and more empowerment for ourselves on our own.
Self-love is crucial when all we see is selfishness. Motivate people by predicting good for them, inspire by encouraging and strengthen other’s by showing love and care. Treating people in a way that we want ourselves to be treated is perhaps the most efficient and worth pondering truth that the wise folks emphasize.
Surely we can do it. We can help people in their grooming or growth whether intellectual or moral. If we will do it to others then others will do it to us. Believe you can and you truly can.
