Individuality to Collectivity (concl.)

We do not cohere with the life turning tip of Lincoln. His is a philosophy way beyond and contrary to our approach. Our awesome philosophy is “I don’t like that man so I need not understand him”.

We need to be intrinsically motivated towards knowing others, regardless of what is our favorite or what we are inclined towards. Let us give a chance to others so that they can make their points clear. Let’s be open-minded. Let’s know each other.

Individuality to Collectivity (3)

Our opinions, way of living, values, interests and beliefs are different, it does not make us aliens from other planets. We are all the breeds of this earth and we all will return to it. Why focussing on the details that make us unlike? Can’t we emphasize the way we are in compatibility? Why don’t we concentrate on what is common among us? Why always adding fuel to the fire of disharmony, our own creation.

We might be different in millions of ways but we are also same in hundreds of things. We can have the windows of our optimism open and let in the breeze of peace and union. Let not our judgements be based on our estimations and guesses. Let’s not be pre-judgmental only on account of stereotypes and our own biases.

Individuality to Collectivity (1)

“I don’t like that man. I must get to know him better”, says Abraham Lincoln.

We all agree that the world is a global village now. We are not limited to ourselves as we previously used to be. Elements of one part of the world affect the other. We are all interconnected through different means. We can not manage to live together in the absence of understanding and even if we do, it would not be lesser than a comical fable in a sense that it will prove to be a curse for our coexistence. We live in an era of self-defense through attacks. We believe when something seconds us and reject when doesn’t. It is self-centeredness that hinders our true grooming and development whether mental, intellectual or academic, while many believe it to be the other way around. Our horizons must cross the boundaries of selfhood-individuality to reach the vastness of collective-humanity.

Understanding Differences

Paying heed to differences is not for drawing repulsive boundaries or to make some ethnic and racial discrimination, not even for confining others’ limitations or to promote isolating creations embedded in Philosophy, Theology or more correctly in Literature. Appreciation for differences must not be approached pessimistically. Our biasness can be a hindrance in this regard when our approach is negative.

Differences can be taken as varieties. Variety is the ornament of the Multiverse. It guards us against the tastelessness of Monotony. We have that pretty much, the feature of love for Diversity there in our inborn spheres of mind, the element of loving one after the other and getting tired of sameness or oneness of stuffs.

The world would never be so lovely as it is today if there was no variety. There would not be humans but programmed fleshes. We are not programmed and that’s why our beings matter more than AI or anything. If we won’t accept the truth of Variety then we are not good at being honest.

Appreciating differences is not for the promotion of disharmony or incompatibility but for a better understanding. Our unacceptance can lead us to promote tolerance, tolerance when it is not the need. It is a tool for betterment and a tool can be used in any way.

Propagating Understanding is better than preaching Tolerance.

Broaden Your Horizon

“Man is selfish by nature” is a saying more often quoted. If this selfishness means self-love then it is truly a blessing yet “Excess is bad” remains constant. Society is full of diverse minded people all possessing unique point of views, values and approaches. We all see, feel and respond differently but what makes us a union is permanent diversity. Some are squares, some are circles, some are rectangles and some are triangles. Trying to fit a rectangle in a circle or square in a triangle is not possible. If we will try so then we will surely cause damage.

Life is full of nasty experiences but for a man of learning these experiences can be the best experiences only if the right perspective is adapted. Nobody keeps all lovers around him/her and nobody meets haters all the way all the time. The only person with zero haters can possibly be Mr. Bean or Charlie Chaplin otherwise we are all the sheep of same flock. We all have both lovers and haters. No matter what you do, you can never be able to satisfy everyone and don’t ever try it if the need is self-satisfaction.

Same is the case with us. We like some people and we hate or at least do not like some. So do they. What is so strange with it? Isn’t it normal? Of course it is. If it is then where comes the fear of being rejected?

It comes from diffidence, lack of knowledge and understanding and lack of appreciation of diversity and differences. Know the above fact as fact to get boosted.

Love yourself and love people. Admire variety and develop understanding so that the world can be seen through different angles.
